Many people start making richly scented candles as a hobby.  If they come up with a special recipe, or a unique design, they may decide to market it.  In other cases, people make richly scented candles for personal uses.  As an example, someone trying to reduce their electric bill might well decide to find a way to melt wax in the sun and fashion candles in that way.  Still others might decide to make candles for emergency uses.
